Description

Silk Town

The piece was commissioned by “Wind Orchestra ENCORE”. It was composed in 2016 and premiered in December 2017 at the 30th-anniversary concert.

The community band is mainly active in Okaya City, Nagano Pref. Japan. Okaya City is a town developed by the silk industry. There were times they were forced to work hard at low wages, but thanks to the efforts of their predecessors, they developed greatly and laid the foundation for modern Japan.

In this composition, I intend to have expressed the trend of the times and the development of the city.
