Description
The Chimes of Liberty March (1922)
Edwin Franko Goldman wrote the American standard march, “The Chimes of Liberty March” in 1922. The chimes are featured in the second half of the march with the addition of a virtuoso piccolo obbligato. The “Trio” section makes this march quite unique. During the final strain, flutes, clarinets, and alto saxophones are added to piccolo obbligato. The arrangement introduces an expanded percussion section part throughout the piece and a French Horn “Schalltrichter hoch” (Bells up) special effect segment during the “Break-up Strain”. The Chimes of Liberty March is truly a classic band march. Goldman’s endearing melody is a welcome addition to your program.
