Description
Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture is known as a castle town. The national treasure is in the center of the city in Matsumoto Castle. Matsumoto City is blessed with abundant groundwater. Wells using that groundwater can be seen here and there. Among them are the wells of Genchi, which have been popular since the Middle Ages. The well water is still used as drinking water. The songbook “Well Poems” was created as a piano book by selecting eleven locations from over twenty spring wells.
01 The well of TAIMAN 5:15
The name of the well derives from the name of the city on the eastern side of Matsumoto Castle. A city that once flourished in commerce. At a restaurant called “Taimaman”, the locals still drink the water from the well.

A small park was built literally where there was Nishibori in Matsumoto Castle, and there is the “Nishibori Park Well” in the park. It looks like a new well.
