Description
P.I. Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893) is generally regarded as one of the greatest Russian composers of symphonic music. He succeeded in combining the national Russian musical language with the Western romantic approach. He was also successful as an opera composer, for instance with the opera “Pique Dame” (“Queen of Spades”). From this opera comes the beautiful aria for baritone voice, sung by one of the main characters, Prince Yeletsky.
It was obvious to choose a Euphonium player as a soloist in this arrangement.
