HERMINIGILDO G. RANERA graduated from UST Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree, major in Trombone and Theory. He has completed his Master’s degree in Conducting from the University of Northern Colorado, with the Dean’s citation for the Graduate Excellence and National Graduate Award. He gained his Doctor of Philosophy degree, major in Educational Management from Cagayan State University.

In 2003, the University of Santo Tomas recognized Dr. Ranera as a Dangal Awardee for the most outstanding faculty in Performing Arts. He is also a recipient of the 2006 Patnubay ng Sining at Kalikasan Award for the Music, given by the City of Manila. He is a 2014 and 2015 Aliw Awardee for his contributions in the field of music as conductor, composer, arranger and educator.

While presently teaching at the UST Conservatory of Music and at St. Paul University Manila graduate school, Dr. Ranera also leads the baton as a conductor for the UST Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. He is also a ranking captain and music  Director of the Philippine Coast Guard Symphonic Band. Professor Ranera also leads the San Juan Nepomuceno Band, and is the resident conductor of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
