Description
Unfortunately, the fame of the Italian composer Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari (1876 – 1948) is rather low these days; he undoubtedly deserves more attention. It is striking that the opera “The jewels of the Madonna” achieved spectacular success at the time of the first performances but soon disappeared into oblivion. With the exception of the two intermezzos, which this opera is rich in!
Intermezzo Nr. 1, the opening of the second act, stands firm on the repertoire lists of many orchestras and is frequently performed in concert (just like Intermezzo Nr. 2).
