Program notes by Tim Kleren
My mission as the composer was, to describe 6 symbols of the town:
I took this order: 1+3+5, then 2+4+6 (picture above)
part 1 (Mountain and rivers): = more or less a Fanfare Overture
part 2: (Blackboard-works) = to play with an anvil and stomp with the feet.
part 3: (The moors against the Christians) = describing the procession outside – I included some motifs of your procession songs in it, and included the gun shoots (loading the gun and then „shoot“)
part 4: (Bread and biscuits) = is a swing part describing making sweet biscuits (the percussionists need to play on casseroles and cups – describing the work in the kitchen)
part 5: (Handmade toys) = included a Cabasa (describing the sandpaper’s, ratchet, and Sleigh Bells when you work with the wood material
part 6: = describing the church
1: praying (singing) of the pastors (men’s);
2: calling the angels (3 Solo Flutes)
3: watching the huge Church in a bird view (Big and massive ) = THE END 🙂
so now have fun by playing this wonderful piece.
